Success at Women's Eights Head of the River Race
The Women’s Eights Head of the River Race 2025 coincided with International Women’s Day, and on a sunny Tideway Thames’ six crews produced a set of outstanding results.
Thames A started third and rowed a strong race, almost catching Oxford Brookes A by the finish to secure second overall behind a Leander Club crew full of international representation. This is the best finish from a Thames boat since taking the headship in 2012.
Thames B also perfomed superbly to take sixth overall and finishing as the highest-placed B crew on the river.
Thames C, E and D finished 19th, 20th and 21st respectively, demonstrating the strength in depth of the squad. The C and D crews were the second-fastest C and D crews in the race, behind only Leander, while the E crew was the fastest E crew by a considerable margin.
To cap off the day, Thames F was 38th overall, making this the best overall performance for the club at WEHORR in at least 30 years.
