Thames welcomes Jack Stoddart as men's coach
Thames Rowing Club is delighted to announce that Jack Stoddart has been appointed as assistant coach for the 2023/24 season. Jack will lead our men’s squad, supported by head coach Sander Smulders, women’s coach Tom Mapp and our large team of volunteer coaches.
Jack joins the club from Dulwich College, where he has coached since 2019, most recently focussing on their boy’s first eight. He brings extensive experience as a Tideway coach; notable coaching achievements include coaching the JM 4- at the 2022 Coupe de la Jeunesse.
Jack joins Thames to help build on the record-breaking results of the 2022/23 season, in which the club won the Copas Cup (Club 8s) at Henley Women’s Regatta, The Thames, Wargrave and Britannia Challenge Cups at Henley Royal Regatta, and won the Vernon Trophy at the Head of the River Race.
Sander, Tom and Jack will together work with a coaching team of experienced volunteers aiming to foster continued growth and success across the entire club and build on the legacy of recent seasons.
Thames Rowing Club would like to place on record their thanks to volunteer coach Jamie Brown who led the men’s squad and for the 2022/23 season was the lead coach of our Thames Cup winning crew. This win means that Jamie has now been the lead coach for two Wyfold Challenge Cups, one Britannia Challenge Cup and one Thames Cup since he joined as a volunteer in 2019. Thames are always looking for new volunteer coaches who wish to develop their skills alongside our existing coaching team – please contact headcoach@thamesrc.co.uk
Prospective new members for the 2023/24 season are extremely welcome, and should contact our coaches directly for more details here.
