A busy weekend for the senior squads at the end of October saw all the athletes get to test their early season speed after a tough first block of training.

On Sunday two fours and an eight from both the men's and women's squads headed to Henley for the Upper Thames Autumn Head, traditionally a successful run-out.

There was some good competition from the likes of Oxford Brookes and University of London and the Thames crews learned some useful lessons from their two races down the course. We came away with one pennant, winning Women's Band 2 4- in the morning, plus plenty of second and third places.

The previous day a different group of athletes were at Dorney, racing in pairs and singles against each other. Despite a stiff crosswind the day was a useful experience for everyone.
