Two eights from the men's and women's squads headed to Amsterdam to race in the Amstelbeker. After the men won the overall trophy last year, all the Dutch crews stepped up but our boats still had a good afternoon out.

The women reached the B final after losing the semi to the ultimate winners, Beatrix, and came away as B-final victors by beating Amstel.

The men produced an excellent time trial, finishing second, but weren't able to beat their semi-final opponents Spaarne - who also went on to win the overall competition. In the B-final a tight race saw the Thames men lose by only 0.6 seconds to Willem III.

It was a good day's racing and a great way to start the 2019/20 season for the seniors.
