Thames RC takes the welfare of its members seriously.

For any issues relating to welfare or safeguarding matters for juniors and vulnerable adults please contact welfare officer Jordan Cole-Hossain at welfare@thamesrc.co.uk.

The welfare officer at Thames Rowing Club is responsible for ensuring the British Rowing Safeguarding Policy and Protecting Children Policy is upheld. The welfare officer specifically looks after vulnerable adults and children.

Please do not hesitate to get in contact in confidence if you have questions or concerns regarding the welfare of another athlete or yourself at the club.

The club’s disciplinary policy, as set down in our constitution, is as follows:

3. III. If the Club Committee (the “Committee”) believes that granting an individual membership would be harmful to the objectives of the Club, by virtue of conduct or character likely to bring the Club or the sport of rowing into disrepute, or for other good cause, the Committee may refuse membership. The Committee shall provide written reasons for its decision and the affected person may appeal to the President of the Club whose decision, provided with written reasons, shall be final.

12. Expulsion or suspension of Members a) If the result of following the Club’s Grievance and Disciplinary procedure is a recommendation that a member should be expelled from the Club, the Committee may, by written notice, expel or suspend that member from membership. Any notice of expulsion is subject to the member’s right to appeal that decision, within 14 days of the date of the notice, to the President of the Club who shall provide written reasons for in reaching their decision. b) A notice of expulsion takes effect 14 days after the date of the notice of expulsion, or, if the decision is appealed, immediately after issue of a decision of the President affirming the Committee’s decision A member who has been expelled is not eligible for re-election as a member except by resolution of the Committee. c) A member shall not be entitled to any refund or rebate of their subscription during a period of suspension or in respect of the unexpired part of their membership subscription if expelled.
