Ghent May and Borne at Chiswick regattas

The senior squad decamped to Belgium for the first weekend in May in search of speed and medals. Overall it was a successful weekend with plenty of bling to bring home.

On Saturday there were medals for Thames in seven events. Jordan and Suzi in the women’s double got things off to a great start with a silver close behind Molesey. Both also picked up silvers in the women’s single and women’s lightweight single respectively.

In the men’s pair Alex and Madis won silver ahead of Barney and Will’s bronze, behind a crew from Commercial RC, Ireland. There was a bronze too for the men’s coxed four, behind Taurus BC and Oxford Brookes.

Sarah and Nat added a further silver in the women’s pair, also behind Molesey, and the men’s eight closed Saturday’s racing with another bronze behind two Brookes crews.

On Sunday there was a bronze for Jordan and Suzi in the women’s double and another for Sarah and Nat in the women’s pair. Suzi capped off a busy weekend with bronze in the women’s single and gold in a composite women’s quad with Tideway Scullers.

The men’s coxed four stepped up to beat Brookes for silver, with Taurus again taking gold. Will and Barney won their second bronze in the men’s pair. Unfortunately the men’s eight were unable to better their Saturday result in a race where Brookes picked up all the medals.

Philip – Borne at Chiswick MNov 1x

Back on the Tideway Philip had a good day pot-hunting at Borne at Chiswick Regatta, winning men’s novice singles by 2 1/2 lengths.

The next outing for Thames is Putney Town Regatta on Saturday 13 May, with a number of novice and masters crews set to race on home water.
